A collaboration project has been launched between "WOLFMAN BARBER SHOP", which leads Japan's barber culture, and "WEIRDO", a brand that boasts unique individuality with culture and playfulness as its concept!
The first item launched is a meticulously crafted T-shirt, a specialty of the brand.
The graphic features artwork created by artist L. for WOLFMAN's new store, "WOLFMAN BARBER SHOP JINGUMAE+", which opened in Harajuku in 2023, inspired by velvet painting.
Velvet painting is a style of painting done on velvet fabric, which became popular in America in the 1970s, depicting pop culture and art icons such as Snoopy and Elvis. Even today, it is loved by many collectors as folk art and kitsch art.
The T-shirt features a playful depiction of the rogue wolf in a zoot suit, as depicted in the artwork, approaching a woman.
To express the worldview of the art piece, the outline is reproduced with a classic flock print, finished with a substantial vintage rubber print that utilizes the hand-drawn touch.
On the back, a wolf arriving at a nightclub in a luxury car is placed as a single point, and it comes with a special double-name tag symbolizing the collaboration.
