THE FAT HATTER

Based on the main concept of "Hat Makes a Man," our shop and atelier opened in Harajuku Cat Street in February 2016, with the goal of creating completely handmade hats using classical methods born in the good old days.

Hats were once an indispensable item for completing a gentlemanly style. Building a world view based on the culture of the 1950s, considered the golden age of hats, and combining the passion for Japanese craftsmanship with the skills of seasoned artisans, unique, one-of-a-kind items are created. To fulfill orders from around the world, original wooden hat blocks are meticulously shaped. With special sewing machines that revive the stitchwork of yesteryear, and deadstock ribbons, among other things... the atelier-made hats, which hat connoisseurs adore, are elevated to a truly unique existence.
