Collection: Niwa Masahiko

The second-generation glasses artisan who inherited Niwa Eyewear Industry, founded in 1955 shortly after the end of World War II, from his father. He possesses outstanding skills, with manual work being considered more precise than machine work, and is one of the world's leading master craftsmen in manufacturing metal and combination metal (a combination of metal and cell) frames.

Each pair of glasses is meticulously crafted one by one by the artisan himself, using custom tools he developed independently.

He is thoroughly committed to every detail, employing hinges that penetrate with actual rivets rather than embedded hinges for the temples, and using slotted screws throughout, reflecting specifications found in vintage eyewear. In the final stage, to achieve comfort the moment they are worn, Masahiko Niwa himself tries on all assembled glasses, relying on his years of experience and intuition to make adjustments. At this point, he doesn't refer to drawings but makes the final judgment based on his instinct as an artisan.

Subtle adjustments that cannot be deciphered from drawings are the true essence of Niwa Eyewear Industry.
